Welcome to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Israel

Welcome to the Embassy of Ethiopia - Tel Aviv

Dear Friends,

Ethiopia has a long history that goes back thousands of years, but only in the last 16-17 years it has experienced democratic governance. Prior to 1991, Ethiopia suffered under a brutal dictatorial regime that left the country in tatters. Before that, it was ruled by a series of kings and emperors.

Ethiopia, one of the oldest nations, is the land of Queen Sheba, the resting place of the Holy Ark of the Covenant, the host of the First-Hajira and the Land of African-Judaism in many ways a second Holy Land. It is the land of Lucy-the cradle of civilization and mother of mankind, the origin of Abay (Blue Nile) and the birth place of Arabica Coffee as we know it.

Today's Ethiopia is open for 21 century business. It is a country endowed with not yet fully exploited arable land with abundance of both human and natural resources and a government committed to sustainable development, peace and democratic governance.

Ethiopia is not so distant, as it was the case during the time of Queen Sheba and King Solomon. In less than four hours of flight and with four weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Addis Ababa, you can have an experience of a life time.

As we are currently celebrating The Ethiopian Millennium 2000 (from Sept. 11/07-Sept. 11/08), we encourage you to visit Ethiopia, consider investing in the vast opportunities that are available for both Foreign and Domestic entrepreneurs. These, in turn will of course, contribute to the strengthening of the already existing long historical and spiritual relationship of the two countries and peoples.

So, please contact us here, at the Embassy, we are here to serve you.

Sincerely,
Fesseha Asghedom Tessema
Ambassador, Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary
